What
is this service?
The assistive technology consultant works with
a team of speech and occupational therapists to
evaluate current technology for use by special
needs students. The assistive technology consultant
determines what modifications are required in
order to help students succeed in the classroom.
Technology
may be defined as a computer, keyboard, touch
monitor, or many other devices students use to
assist their learning.
Who
do we serve?
Special needs students throughout Char-Em ISD.
Any school may request an assistive technology
evaluation.
How
do we serve?
A
team evaluation is conducted at the school location
upon request. Recommendations for modifications
and suggestions for low and high tech options
are given in report form. If necessary, training
in using recommended devices is then provided
by the assistive technology consultant to the
student, parent, and/or teacher.
